Instruments for Sale

About George Banjo Sales

George Banjos offers banjos for sale in three categories - custom banjos hand-crafted by Tommy George and Christian Stanfield, banjos from other manufacturers that have been restored or had reproduction necks made by Tommy and Christian, and occasionally Tommy or Christian will make available for sale a banjo or other instrument from their personal collection.

All George custom banjos are warranteed for life against defective manufacture.  Reproductions are guaranteed for the work Tommy and Christian have done; all other banjos are sold as-is.

Update, April 2012: A quick scroll down this page reveals that we are pretty much sold out of almost everything in stock except banjo ukes and one lone 5-string long neck.  Do not let that deter you - custom order your own George banjo today and let us build to your specification or needs!  Current wait list is about two to four months to get started, and we can have you banjo ready within about four months after getting started.

"Black Beauty" (2011)

Have you ever played on old-time tune on an open back banjo and had to fake part of it because you ran out of low notes?  Christian's new Black Beauty banjo remedies that problem by adding an extra bass string - now you can capo up to D and play "Whiskey Before Breakfast" in the standard register and actually play all the notes!  This banjo is constructed of premium maple, and finished in black lacquer.  Note the intricate marquetry that adorns the bottom edge of the rim!  The tension hoop was made by Bill Rickard in Canada, and the tuners are top shelf Gotohs.  The 25.5" ebony fingerboard is radiused for easy playing up and down the neck.  Fiberskin head, dowel stick neck attatchment.
