Resonator Banjos
Resonator banjos have been the banjos of choice for bluegrass players since the 1940's. George resonator models combine aestheitc beauty and tone to produce banjos that are a bluegrass player's dream. Tommy also specializes in building custom, highly decorative resonator backs for his bluegrass models.
2004 George "Lion" Resonator Banjo
Constructed in 2004, this is one of Tommy's personal players that he uses with his bluegrass band, Cypress Creek of Tennessee. The neck is curly maple, and the fingerboard and peghead inlay are of pearl alletate. The pot is a maple block rim with a JLS tonering and a brass flange. The most interesting feature is the resonator back, on which rests a relief lion carved out of walnut, ivoroid and abalone, which Tommy then inlaid into the resonator back.
